Take a more active role in your health — before problems force you to.
Insure Your Health Yourself exists for one simple reason: to encourage people to take an active role in protecting their health, instead of waiting until something goes wrong.
Health is too important to hand over entirely to a system, an insurance policy, a prescription, or anyone else. The choices we make every day — how we move, what we eat, how we rest, what we learn, and how we respond when something does not feel right — can make a real difference over a lifetime.
This site is built around prevention, personal responsibility and self-reliance. It is about learning as much as we can, asking questions, paying attention to our bodies, and doing the simple things that may help us remain strong, independent and engaged in life for as long as possible.
You will find personal stories here, lessons from experience, ideas about exercise and longevity, and examples from people who have influenced my own thinking about health. Some are successes. Some are warnings. All of them are here for the same reason: to encourage people to think about their health before they are forced to.
This is not about perfection, and it is not about guarantees. None of us can control everything that happens to our bodies. But we can control many of the decisions we make along the way.
