I added this to my daily diet over four years ago and I cannot imagine going one day without it now.

The benefits of this food source are to numerous to list but I will try to enlighten you on why you need to be consuming this incredibly nutritious food daily. Chia is known to boost energy, aid in digestion, stabilize blood sugar and lower cholesterol.

After one year of being on Chia I had my blood work done and my results showed that my blood was better than both of my Doctors. I now consume Chia with everything, it goes in smoothies, salads, soups and gets included in cereal mixtures of granola and berries, it is very versatile and can be added to almost any other food combination. It has a pleasant nutty taste, another way to consume it is to drink it. I love Iced Green Tea, so I add a tablespoon or so of Chia seed and maybe some honey and lemon/lime, in Mexico this is called Chia Fresca and is delicious and energizing. Chia goes gel like, when liquid is added, so you may require a spoon to stir it, or put it in a water bottle and shake just before drinking.

Chia is beneficial as a treatment for type-2 diabetes because of its ability to slow down digestion which can also prevent blood sugar spikes.

One-ounce serving of chia has 11 grams of dietary fibre — which is very important for digestive health.

Chia seeds are packed with omega-3 fatty acids, these fats are important for brain health.

One serving of chia seeds has 18 per cent of the recommended daily intake for calcium, to help in maintaining bone and oral health, and preventing osteoporosis.

Chia contains Manganese and Phosphorus, which helps your body use other essential nutrients like biotin and thiamin. Phosphorus is used by the body to synthesize protein for cell and tissue growth.

Chia is a great source of protein for vegetarians and doesn’t have any cholesterol. One 28-gram serving of these super seeds has 4.4 grams of protein.

Improved heart health, Chia seeds have been shown to improve blood pressure in diabetics, and may also increase healthy cholesterol while lowering total, LDL, and triglyceride cholesterol.
